Big Strides for Sawyer!

Published by adrienne under The Kiddos

Sawyer is making some growth progress! He is now up to 11 pounds! He is still not on the chart for weight but 11 pounds is definitely good progress. He also has gone from the 4th percentile for height up to the 6th percentile. A little progress is better than nothing at all. I thought he would be taller than that because he looks so long, but I guess that is due to how lean he is. His head circumference is finally on the chart and is in the 17th percentile. So his brain is growing quite nicely!
Sawyer has really strong stomach muscles. When laying back on a pillow, he can raise himself up to a sitting position.
He has given up his pacifier. So now he isn’t sleeping quite as well as he was when we could just pop the paci in. Oh well, now I don’t have to worry about weaning him off it when he turns 1. Luckily I have never had to deal with that with any of my kids. My doctor doesn’t want kids to have pacifiers or bottles after they turn 1 as it can affect teeth, palate, and speech, and I don’t want them to have them after 1 for aesthetic reasons. One of my pet peeves is seeing a toddler walking around with a pacifier in his/her mouth. They don’t need to suck like an infant does and it is detrimental in so many different ways. So I am thankful for self-weaning, grown-up babies!

Olivia is now sleeping in a big girl bed instead of a crib. It took her a few nights to get used to it, but she is doing really well. A couple of times we have woken up in the morning to find her sleeping on the floor of our room. Jared thanked her yesterday for not waking us up when she wakes up at night.
She is such a big talker. I can’t believe how well she formulates completes sentences and enunciates her words.

Where did my little girl go?

Published by adrienne under The Kiddos

Olivia is a baby no longer. She has grown up so quickly in the last few months. It is so cute to see the new things that she does or to see the big girl she is becoming, but at the same time it makes me so sad. Here are a few of the big girl things she has done or said just in the three hours that she has been awake today:

1) I went into her room this morning as I heard her moving about in there. She had taken off her diaper and thrown it away, gotten out a pull-up and put it on, had on a pair of shoes, and was trying to put on a pair of shorts and a shirt. I said to her, “Are you getting yourself dressed, big girl?” She pointed to her pull-up and said, “Princess!” (Her pull-ups have Disney princesses on them.)

2) She brought me the phone and said, “Wanna call Daddy!” So we called Jared and she said to him, “Daddy working.”

3) She looked out the window and said, “Ohhhhh, storm!” (It’s raining right now.)

We also discovered last Saturday that Olivia enjoys riding dirt bikes. She is quite a brave girl!
