Ahh, the honesty of children
On the way to soccer practice yesterday, Andrew, Cameron, and I were discussing how old everyone in our family is. Then Cameron asked me in that Bronx accent of his, “How old is that baby in your fat belly?!”

I am so glad that the songwriters for the cartoon “The Backyardigans” decided to write their songs with parental entertainment in mind. This morning I particularly enjoyed the song “Racing Day.” Here are some of the lyrics:
“Racing Day, it’s Racing Day! It’s not Sausage-casing Day! Today’s the day we race! Racing Day, it’s Racing Day! It’s not Self-effacing Day! Today’s the day we race!”

Yesterday Jared and Olivia were looking at pictures of animals. Jared pointed to one and asked Olivia what it was (expecting her to say “monkey”). Imagine our suprise when the tiny tot said, “That’s a marmasot.” Duh, Dad, don’t you know the difference between a monkey and a marmasot?
